Squeeze baccarat: the slow reveal and what it costs

Squeeze baccarat is a way of showing the cards, not a way of paying them. Evolution, which built the first studio version, pitched its squeeze tables at high-wagering players, and that is still the crowd that sits at them. The tables below are where it appears at crypto casinos.

The score counts what each casino publishes about its licence, ID checks and withdrawal limits, not how its baccarat lobby looks.

Only Cloudbet's baccarat lobby was confirmed to list squeeze tables when we looked. The other four carry studio live baccarat, but whether a squeeze table is open depends on the lobby that day: type "squeeze" in its search before depositing.

What is squeeze baccarat?

The cards come out of the shoe face down. At a normal table the dealer turns them over. At a squeeze table the card is lifted at one edge, bent or peeled back, and its pips appear a little at a time. Nothing about the hand changes: it is still punto banco with the usual third-card rules, and the result is already fixed when the first card is dealt.

Evolution runs two versions, and its game page describes both:

• Live Baccarat Squeeze. The dealer does the squeezing, with more than 15 cameras covering the cards. According to Evolution, the dealer squeezes the cards of the hand that carries the greatest total wager, so at a busy table you often watch the reveal of whichever side attracted the biggest bets.
• Live Baccarat Control Squeeze. The player does it: you peel an overlay mask off each card on screen, while two cameras under the table send the real card faces. You can practise the squeeze without placing a bet.

Evolution opened its first squeeze table on 3 December 2015 for a Macau brand and added the player-controlled version in October 2016.

Which live tables use the squeeze?

Pragmatic Play's own live casino page describes its baccarat with a manual zoom on the player's cards and five roads, and does not mention a squeeze, so we say nothing about how its table reveals cards beyond its name. Evolution is the only studio whose squeeze rules we could read at the source.

Is there squeeze baccarat with no commission?

Not as a table we could confirm, and the reason is how the lobbies are built.

Evolution's No Commission Baccarat is its own game: banker wins pay even money, a banker win with a total of 6 pays half the stake (0.5 to 1), and a Super 6 insurance bet pays 15 to 1 when banker wins on 6. The page does not mention a squeeze. Squeeze and Control Squeeze are separate entries on Evolution's list. Cloudbet's live baccarat page shows the same split: both squeeze tables sit beside Speed and Lightning, with no No Commission table in that list.

Pragmatic Play does it differently. It says its baccarat can be switched to no commission at any point in play, and an older announcement describes the switch as the Super 6 button. The practical rule: assume a squeeze table is classic (5% commission on banker) until its info screen says otherwise.

What does each bet cost at a squeeze table?

The house edge depends on the payout rule, not the reveal. On an eight-deck shoe:

The Super 6 figure is our arithmetic: a banker win with 6 comes up about 5.39% of the time, so 16 × 5.39% − 1 leaves an edge near 13.8%. At a 12-to-1 payout the same bet costs about 30%. On the tie and the pairs, see the tie bet page.

So the best bet is the one it is everywhere else: banker at a classic table, player at a no-commission one. See banker or player.

How slow is a squeeze table?

Evolution gives round times for two of its tables: about 48 seconds for standard live baccarat and 27 seconds for Speed Baccarat, where the cards go face up. It publishes no figure for squeeze. In land casinos, an industry estimate puts squeeze games at 35 to 50 hands an hour. For online squeeze we use 50, an assumption that matches the table on our live baccarat page.

The edge is charged on every stake, so fewer hands means a cheaper hour. A squeeze table is the cheapest way to sit at live baccarat for an evening, and the opposite of speed baccarat, where the same stake costs more than twice as much per hour.

The saving is real only if you keep the stake. A player who bets $50 a hand to "make the slow table worth it" pays $26.50 an hour, more than a $25 stake at a standard table.

When a squeeze table suits you

• A fixed budget and a long evening. Fewer hands per hour stretch the money.
• Players who enjoy the reveal. That is the product; the odds are the same.
• Control Squeeze, for learning the game. You can run through hands without a bet.

It does not suit anyone who wants volume or who finds the pause tedious. And a slow reveal is no reason to read the hand as a sign: the cards are already dealt, and no pattern in them predicts the next shoe. Our Big Road page covers why.

The cashier does not change the table. Any coin the casino takes reaches the same Evolution or Pragmatic Play lobby, and the balance on screen is in your coin or its fiat equivalent.
